- Three years of full-time dissertation research are required. The standard duration of study is six semesters, including the oral defence. Under certain circumstances, the PhD executive committee may grant an extension of up to two semesters. The period of study may not exceed eight semesters, including the defence.

- In order to graduate, students must achieve a total of 180 ECTS points, of which 32 ECTS points must be earned through various curricular activities, and a total of 148 ECTS points are awarded for the written dissertation and oral defence.
Every semester, several lectures, seminars and courses are offered within each of the modules. In order to achieve a total of 32 ECTS points, students must successfully complete one or more activities for each module over a period of six semesters.
