- The interconnection between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning is crucial for human well-being. Ecosystems are shaped by human activities, which, in turn, create the prerequisites for human societies to thrive. This Master's programme is exceptional by recognising that effective ecosystem management depends on an in-depth comprehension of ecosystem processes and their connections with social-ecological system dynamics, including the challenges of the ongoing biodiversity and climate crises. The interdisciplinary approach of this Master's programme covers concepts of both fundamental and applied ecology as well as concepts from social sciences, such as governance or participation.
