Description/content
The Animation and Game Master of Arts programme qualifies students for leadership positions in the international media industry. In an inspiring research- and development-oriented learning environment with excellent technical equipment, students acquire advanced skills and competencies related to the development and realisation of digital animations and games as well as to animation and game research. They gain practical directorial experience by leading animation, game and virtual reality projects in the Animation and Game Bachelor's programme under the supervision of lecturers with strong industry background. The Animation and Game Master's degree programme offers two optional specialisations: The "Creative Direction Specialisation“ integrates relevant subject areas such as animation and game direction, creative research and development, narrative design, game experience design as well as animation and game studies. It provides students with intense genre knowledge and critique as well as a mastery of industrial standard producing practices. In a project-based learning scenario, students carry out individual and/or team-based research and development projects. They acquire up-to-date methods in the areas of creative strategies, creative leadership and creative entrepreneurship, which enable them to develop and implement innovative creative visions. The Creative Direction Specialisation aims to qualify students for leadership roles in the animation and game industry, such as animation directors, lead game designers, art directors or creative producers. The "Technical Direction Specialisation“ fosters advanced skills and competencies in the fields of advanced game programming and game development, technical art for animations and games, VR/AR technologies and technical pipeline management. In a project-based learning scenario, students carry out individual and/or team based research and development projects on technical aspects of animation and game creation and production. They acquire the skills to communicate and implement their visions on the foundation of current technical art, game development, computer science and production management methods. The Technical Direction Specialisation is designed to qualify students for leadership roles as technical directors, lead programmers, lead technical designers, or technical producers.
