Target group: The course targets international students with a good knowledge of German who are studying historical or political science or who are interested in these cultural topics and in German culture in general.
Description/content: The course focuses on current events in German politics and society as well as important aspects from German history. Addressing German culture from an intercultural perspective takes precedence over learning bare facts. Teaching is connected to real-life situations and includes extracurricular learning venues in addition to the lessons in class. Linguistically, the focus is on communication and a confident use of the German language, adapted to specific situations. Grammatical knowledge and technical language aspects are practised and developed as appropriate to the upper level. The course amounts to 25 hours per week (17 hours of general language and eight hours of technical language).
