Information on dates, prices and mode of study: The course of 2 credit hours per week (21 h / 14 x 90 min) and 5 ECTS takes place as an intensive course in March on campus of IPU and costs 185 EUR.
Target group: Prospective psychology students and current psychology students from all over the world are welcome. The course is limited to a maximum of 30 participants. Registration is considered complete when the course fee has been credited to the specified IPU bank account. The "first-come-first-served" principle applies. In principle, preference will be given to those who are explicitly interested in studying psychology.
Description/content: • The definition and scope of clinical psychology • Mental health professions • Ethical issues in clinical psychology • Psychological attitude, empathy and stigma • Definitions and models of mental disorder • Classifications of mental disorders • Psychological crisis and stress • Psychotic disorders • Personality disorders • Anxiety disorders • Other significant types of mental disorders • Treatments for persons with mental disorders • Research issues in clinical psychology Learning objectives: The lecture course is designed to give students the first systematic overview of clinical psychology, in its scientific and applied aspects, as well as of the profession of a clinical psychologist.
