- The study programme itself is free of charge. There is only a fee for enrolment at the university of around 300 EUR.
The programme takes place every summer semester (March to July) at the two "katho" (Catholic University of Applied Sciences) departments in Muenster and Cologne. Participants can decide in which department they would like to take part in the programme.

- Social Work and Exclusion. An international study programme at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences (katho), Germany
International fields of social work such as migration, political crisis and processes of globalisation play a major role in learning social work today. With the current challenges for social work, it is safe to say that international qualification in social work becomes more essential than ever. And that is why you will be profiting from our curriculum of “Social Work and Exclusion”.
The participants of the programme will form one group during the whole semester. However, since the classes of the programme are integrated into the regular curriculum of the Bachelor in Social Work, they will also study side by side with our local students and be a part of our small family campus.
At both departments, the programme comprises courses totalling 30 ECTS credits. The courses themselves are held as weekly courses or as intensive block courses, which take place over specific weekends.
Assessment methods include mainly oral individual or group presentations, or written essays. The German grading system will be used, with grades ranging from 1 (best) to 5 (worst), and intermediate grades such as 1.3 and 1.7.
Upon completion of the programme, students will have acquired the following knowledge and skills:

Knowledge about different theories of social inequality, poverty and social exclusion

Knowledge and skills to analyse current developments in the field of inequality and poverty and their implications for social work practice
•
Insight in the theories that explain the processes and mechanisms of social exclusion and their impact on the position of various groups in society

The development of international and intercultural competences, in particular
•
The development of a broad international perspective on the social work profession
•
An understanding of the context-related character of social work practice
•
The development of critical cultural awareness
•
The ability to cross over disciplinary and professional boundaries, languages and cultural backgrounds and to work with colleagues with a range of cultural backgrounds and frameworks of reference
