Information on dates, prices and mode of study: The following services are included in the programme fee: • German course, including study materials • Intercultural competence training • Excursions to various cities • Specialist lectures • Learning support • Transcript of records listing taken courses and credit points (ECTS) Please note that all participants must take care of potential visa applications themselves, including the payment of visa application fees in case they need a visa for Germany. The accommodation is not included in the course fee. You will find information on where to apply for an accommodation on our website (https://summer.uni-mainz.de/german-language-school/accommodation/). A ticket for public transportation can be purchased at the airport for 58 EUR.
Target group: The programme of the International German Language School is meant for students who want to start learning German and those who already have prior experience with German and wish to improve their language skills. In order to participate in the International German Language School you need to be: • at least 18 years old at the start of the Summer School, and • officially enrolled at a university (proof needs to be sent during the application process).
Description/content: To enable all participants to improve their language skills, we offer intensive courses at different levels, starting at level A1 (elementary language use) up to level C1 (competent language use). The designations A1 and C1 refer to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) (https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/table-1-cefr-3.3-common-reference-levels-global-scale). Language classes take place in the mornings, Monday to Friday. Lunch break is usually followed by seminars or field trips in the afternoon. The evenings are usually free.
